The Schools Admissions Code, that came into effect in 2012, stated that by law, schools must take all reasonable steps to inform parents of the outcome of tests before the closing deadline for the Common Application form (CAF) on October 31st.

Wirral Grammar Schools

The 11 plus in Wirral is administered by the Wirral Borough Council for:

  • Calday Grange Grammar School
  • West Kirby Grammar School
  • Wirral Grammar school for Girls
  • Wirral Grammar school for Boys

Whereas, St. Anselm’s College and Upton Hall School administer their own tests.

There will be two test papers of approx 50 mins each; each one containing a mixture of multiple choice questions, divided into timed sections. The questions in each paper will be a mixture of the above subjects. A few maths questions will not be multiple choice

Liverpool Grammar Schools

There is only one grammar school remaining in Liverpool – The Blue Coat School. It is a mixed school and admits 180 children each year into Year 7. In addition there are three partially selective schools in Liverpool.

Eligibility for a place is based on the following criteria:
1. Up to 27 places for children who achieve a score of 320 or more and are entitled to free school meals
2. Remaining places are allocated to highest scores
In the event of a tie, the place will go to the highest non-verbal reasoning score. If there is still a tie, the highest English score will determine the result.
